Mother and children

Every year the woodshed hosts from one to four swallow nests. The timing each year is very consistent, such that on the Solstice picnic there are five little furry heads being fed constantly, and a small pile of bird do building up under the nest. Then at the beginning of July the fledglings take wing. This year there was only one nest with five babies and July 2nd was the day four of the five discovered the world outside the nest. This shot was taken just a few hours before the big event.
